Blog EntryRemembering Elvis ~ My Elvis ~ Our ElvisSep 8, '07 3:19 PM
for everyone

He is gone now for over 30 years and I still mourn his death.  A piece of my heart died when Elvis died.  He was larger than life and without a doubt the best entertainer who ever lived.  His voice was angelic, the voice of an Archangel. I can imagine him leading the Heavenly choir.

A man of Elvis’ statue deserved to have better care.  I understand that no one in his circle could bring to his attention his need to get off of the prescription drugs and seek help for his depression.  Elvis was ELVIS and from the collected retelling of his life it is apparent that he was not open to such criticism.   But his doctors were responsibility to give him the proper medical care.  He had been hospitalized a few times prior to his death.  I remember the press telling that his hospitalization was due to gall bladder problems.  Whatever was the true reason for his hospitalization, that was the time his doctors were medically responsible to address his prescription drug addiction.  Yes, it’s likely that Elvis made sure to have doctors who were also yes men.  But, why weren’t his doctors held accountable for their malpractice?

It was another time.  In the 1970s prescription drug use was not a concern and seeking psychological help was taboo.  A “strong” and powerful man, such as Elvis, was highly respected.  Doctors did not fear malpractice lawsuits.  The ignorance of the time killed Elvis, as it did many others.  Yet, this fact still does not heal the hole in my heart and keep me from crying after I watch one of his brilliant performances.

for everyone

Lately, I have spent an equal amount of time on the site MyBoomerPlace.com and on MySpace.com.  I have also been "role-playing" on a new MySpace “Madame Giry” page.   On my original "Madame Giry" MySpace page, it became very ... un-loving between too many characters. So, I created a new "role-play" page where I am only RPing with selected people.  My new MySpace "role-play" site can be found at:

www.myspace.com\madameantoinette

My old role-playing page is:

www.myspace.com\karenkamrod

I set up a group on MyBoomerPlace.com named [the] Followers of Jesus.  This new group can be found in the group section under “Spirituality ...”.  I created the group because I saw a need for a cyber fellowship of Christian / Spiritual / Jesus Loving BELIEVERS on MyBoomerPlace.com.  It was dishearten to find Wicca and Pagan groups set up on the site, yet no Christian groups.

I have been away from Multiply for a while.  I look forward to seeing what is new.

I would love to build this group and multiply contacts.  So, ultimately I will work to connect my Multiply.com site and MyBoomerPlace.com site.

Blog Entry'When I say I'm a Christian'Jun 27, '06 6:27 PM
for everyone

"When I say I'm a Christian"

~ ~ BY MAYA ANGELOU ~ ~

When I say..."I am a Christian",

I'm not shouting "I'm clean livin".

I'm whispering "I was lost,

Now I'm found and forgiven".

"When I say..."I am a Christian",

I don't speak of this with pride.

I'm confessing that I stumble,

And need CHRIST to be my guide.

When I say..."I am a Christian",

I'm not trying to be strong.

I'm professing that I'm weak,

And need HIS strength to carry on.

When I say..."I am a Christian",

I'm not bragging of success.

I'm admitting I have failed,

And need God to clean my mess.

When I say..."I am a Christian",

I'm not claiming to be perfect.

My flaws are far too visible,

But God believes I am worth it.

When I say..."I am a Christian",

I still feel the sting of pain.

I have my share of heartaches,

So I call upon His name.

When I say..."I am a Christian",

I'm not holier than thou.

 I'm just a simple sinner

Who received God's good grace somehow.
